Do you need to change how you blog? A while back I wanted to make a tumblr and “dumb down” on blogging so I bought a domain and I did the redirection thing and started with a tumblr.
Here’s the problem. It wasn’t the blogging platform that inhibited me posting, it was me. I don’t want to post frequently and even if I did, the same series of events would have to happen for me to make a post live, which would be something like:
- be in front of a computer type device
- go to an online or offline version of wordpress or tumblr
- make post
- push submit
Too hard. So, I was thinking, WordPress has a lot of bells and whistles (if you want it to) and tumblr is pretty lean (if you want it to be). So the logical decsion was “hey if i use tumlr, more things will get posted!”
That was a silly idea.
No really, change how you blog
As I’m doing housekeeping on life and material possessions in lieu of moving to the Philippines next week, I’m also trying to downsize digitally (I wanted to make a portmanteau of downsize and digitize, but couldn’t think of one.)
Anyway blogging wise, I don’t ever intend on “blogging”, more just post a photo and write something. We’ll see how it goes. I was going to delete this wordpress, but I decided not too.
I hope this big “reveal” will help you change how you blog. Essentially, minimizing the steps needed is always a god way to go, but if you’re going to do it, you’re going to do it. Insert the saying about the workman blaming the tools here.
PS. Don’t troll me for this, but it only took 7 minutes to write this (plus a couple for typo fixes!)
