Today I’ll have a quick rant about two of the latest movies out there for your enjoyment. Akeelah and the Bee is the first movie I can remember seeing Laurence Fishburne since “The Matrix”. This is a definite feel good movie. It’s a story of a bright young 11 year old – Akeelah Anderson played by Keke Palmer is tutored or mentored from a ghetto community school all the way through winning the National Spelling Bee. Does she win? Hrmmm, well can you spell “predictable”?
Notable appearances from Laurence Fishburne, Angela Basset and relative newcomer Keke Palmer, I’m going to see this. It’s a starbucks movie too, free coffee? It’s definitely a good family film, showing the positive effects of community, how caring for your neighbors can make a difference.
Miama Vice, Benchwarmers – coming soon.
